Our Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The safety and wellbeing of everyone we support is always our priority. We are actively responding to the Coronavirus (COVID‑19) outbreak and taking steps to help keep staff and the people we support safe. We will continue to keep our consumers and support workers informed about the latest recommendations and to public safety guidelines as they affect our services and the impact on your day to day lives.

Please advise your co-worker immediately if you feel unwell to discuss options for COVID-19 testing.

Headstart COVID-19 Update:

The advent of COVID-19 has been and will continue to change the way we currently live and provide services. Your wellbeing, health and safety are our major priority, therefore:

1. We have stopped all social club activities until the end of June when we will review again.

2. All 1:1 supports WILL CONTINUE for each person but we ask for your understanding and patience as the way it happens may need to change, especially in view of new social distancing guidelines. 

3. All our office based staff remain at work completing their job duties and maintaining contact and arranging changes in rosters as required. Admin are securing more PPE supplies.

4. All our staff are fully aware of the seriousness of the situation and the need to follow all precautionary measures in Infection Control and COVID-19. 

5. The information from Government sources is coming in hourly and we want to reassure you that we are following all protocols established by the Australian Government.

6. If you have any flu like symptoms, please let us know ASAP. We may need to cancel your supports but we will work with you to find alternate ways we can support you.

We are committed to you, your families and the wider community in getting safely through this storm.

How to Avoid COVID-19 Infection or Spreading the Virus

COVID-19 is a continuing challenge to our health and daily living, but these simple things we can do every day WILL make a big difference:

1. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth 

3. Cover your mouth or nose when coughing or sneezing

4. Use only disposable tissues, and dispose of them immediately after use

5. Avoid close contact with anyone showing respiratory symptoms

6.  Monitor travel advice on Smartraveller

7. Stay at home when you are sick.
